Mustard has returned to drop off the second single from his forthcoming fourth studio album, Faith of a Mustard Seed. Titled “Pray For Me,” the new track sees the Grammy-winning producer and artist make his rap debut.
The melodic cut opens with a gospel-backed beat, building a meaningful atmosphere for Mustard’s vulnerable lyrics: “First, give an honor to God/To Ms. Carol who had first brought me and my moms,” he raps. “To the church, where I know I ain’t been in so long/I just pray that when I call, they still pick up the phone.”
“Pray For Me” arrives with an accompanying music video, which juxtaposes visuals of the choir singing the track’s backing vocals and Mustard revisiting pivotal moments throughout his life.
This latest single follows “Parking Lot,” featuring Travis Scott, Mustard’s first release off Faith of a Mustard Seed. On both tracks, and with the entire soon-to-release album, Mustard looks to showcase how his faith has helped him overcome his biggest obstacles. Drawing inspiration from Nipsey Hussle, the full-length effort channels the following biblical words: “With the faith of a mustard seed, God will allow you to move mountains.”
Faith of a Mustard Seed is scheduled to release on July 26. Ahead of the album’s debut, check out the official “Pray For Me” music video above.
