MTV VMAs Introduces “Best Afrobeats” Category Rema, Ayra Starr others nominated: See Full 2023 Nominees List

The MTV Music Video Awards is back for its 2023 edition and the organisers have announced a list of nominees in various categories. 

For the 2023 edition of the prestigious MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), a category was introduced for the burgeoning music genre Afrobeats music, the “Best Afrobeats” category. The new category had its debut nominees as follows; Rema, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML and Libianca.

The Afrobeats music stars were nominated in the new “Best Afrobeats” category for their globally acclaimed Afrobeats hits.

According to the nominees list, Taylor Swift bagged the most nominations 8, followed closely by SZA’s 6.
