Mr Eazi Announces Global Art Exhibitions as Part of Forthcoming Album

Last year, Nigerian singer and Banku music pioneer Mr Eazi announced that he would be collaborating with 13 artists across Africa to pair bespoke work with each track off his first studio album. Slated to release later this year, the musician has revealed that he will also showcase each artwork as part of new group exhibitions that will take place in Lagos, Accra, New York and London.

Eazi has become a meteoric figure in the world of music since his Afrobeat banger “Skintight” debuted back in 2016. From collaborative tunes with Bad Bunny and Beyoncé, Eazi dedicated the past two years to perfecting his craft, recording tracks across the world in global hotspots, such as Benin, Rwanda, Accra, Lagos, London, Los Angeles and New York.

In anticipation of the upcoming show, Eazi worked with Cameroonian artist Elangwe Sesse and South African visual artist Sinalo Ngcaba on two artworks to complement his new single “Chop Time, No Friend.”

“Inviting artists to create for the album was from my passion for creativity and expression,” the artist previously said in a statement. “I formed a true bond with many of my artist friends. The artworks visually unlock the ideas, emotion, and energy within my music.”

The London portion of exhibition will take place at the forthcoming 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House from October 12 to 15, while the album itself is slated to release on October 27.
