Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee Confirms The Band Has New Music Coming Soon

It’s been well over a decade since Mötley Crüe last released an album, so fans of the band must be eager to hear more from the group. Thankfully, one of the most famous members has revealed that not only have they started working on new material, but there’s plenty of it, and it might be released very soon.

Tommy Lee, Mötley Crüe’s longtime drummer and one of the icons of rock and roll, spoke with the Desert Sun newspaper about their New Year’s Eve concert that’s coming up fast. During the chat, the legendary musician opened up about what the band has been working on lately, giving fans reason to hope that they’ll get to hear new tunes…perhaps even in the new year.

“For those jonesing for some new Crüe, people are going to bug out,” Lee stated. It’s likely that after waiting more than a decade, the group’s most ardent supporters are certainly “jonesing” for new material. “Wait until you hear it, it’s insane,” the drummer added.

Lee continued to discuss the new music, even naming one of the tunes that might be shared soon. “We just went to the studio not too long ago and recorded three insane tracks,” the rocker admitted. He went on to reveal that “one of them is called ‘Dogs of War’,” though he didn’t give any more names away.

It seems like the music Mötley Crüe is working on might not be just a one-off release. Lee said during the interview that, “We’re just finishing up the video for it,” which suggests that a healthy sum of money is being poured into promoting the song. That’s usually done when there’s more to come…though fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a complete collection—at least not yet.

“It’s not a full album, but that might be down the road a bit,” Lee added, immediately making clear that new music doesn’t necessarily mean a full LP. At the same time, the drummer didn’t completely rule out such a body of work, as he also claimed, “We’re always writing and doing stuff, so that’s always a possibility.”

Mötley Crüe’s last album, Saints of Los Angeles, was released in 2008. Since then, they also scored a top 10 title on the Billboard 200 with the soundtrack that accompanied the Netflix
NFLX
movie The Dirt, which is based on the band’s own memoir. In the years since their last proper album, they have also dropped a handful of tunes, but fans are always excited for more.
