A mother and her two children have been burnt to death in a fire disaster that occurred in Riban Garmu village, Dewu Ward in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Four others also sustained varying degrees of injuries.
An eyewitness who refused to give his name said that the fire was suspected to be as a result of an electrical fault in the house which burnt it down.
He said, “We suspect that there was a spark in the night while people were asleep and that might have caused the fire which burnt the four-bedroom house completely.
“Four people sustained injuries and they were admitted at the Kirfi General Hospital where they are receiving treatment,” he said.
The eyewitness said the fire started when the deceased and her two children were sleeping in the night, adding that all efforts made to forcefully open the door of their room failed.
He said, “They were crying and screaming for help inside the room but no one could open the door up to the time the fire consumed them.”
Meanwhile, a Member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abdulkadir Dewu, representing Kirfi Constituency, paid a sympathy visit to the family of the victims on behalf of the State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed.
He expressed shock at the incident saying that it was a devastating experience to see a mother and her two biological children die in such circumstances.
Dewu urged the family of the victims to take the incident as an act of God even as he prayed to Almighty Allah to stop a re-occurrence of the incident.
He presented Governor Bala Mohammed’s N250,000 donation to the victims’ families.
The lawmaker said the loss suffered by the family and the community was painful and was an irreparable loss.
He extended Governor Mohammed’s condolence to the family of the deceased and the community and prayed to Allah to forgive the deceased and grant their family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He cautioned the community against using fire indiscriminately especially during this period.
A community leader in the area, Mallam Muhammadu Garmu, expressed gratitude to the Governor and the lawmaker for identifying with the community during their trying moments and prayed to God to reward them abundantly.
He described the deceased as an obedient Woman who lived peacefully with her people saying that the community will continue to remember her kindness and generosity.
