Montell Fish has officially announced that his next album, Charlotte, will be released on Friday, August 23.
The 13-track record, co-produced by Jacob Portrait, features impressive collaborations with Daniel Caesar, Clams Casino, Alex G and more. According to an official description, the album probes “deep into themes of memory, attachment, loss, and growth and the psychology behind all of these human experiences.”
Charlotte is the second offering in Fish’s trilogy, which began in 2022 with the release of Jamie. Highlighting his own life experiences from the last two years, the project incorporates Fish’s readings about psychology, memory and childhood with lyrics that relate to “love, power, failure and success.”
The album arrives after Fish’s latest EP, Intercession Before Charlotte, which he released under his dj gummy bear moniker in March. At the time, Fish told Hypebeast that the project was “an acknowledgment of ‘Yes, I’m working on Charlotte, but it’s not ready yet. I need more time before I bring the album to life.’” Now, the record is ready to meet the world.
