Bandai Namco has officially released a new teaser clip and visual for the new Gundam TV series. The anime Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, which is the franchise’s first new show in seven years, unveils that for the first time ever, Gundam will be receiving its first female protagonist.
The heroine is also slated to have her own mobile suit, the Gundam Aerial. The conference held by Bandai Namco also revealed that a prequel project for the anime will arrive soon, titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Prologue. This series will feature its own storyline and special mobile suits including the Gundam Lfrith and Beguir-Beu. The prequel is slated to debut later this summer at the site of the life-size moving Gundam statue at the Gundam Factory Yokohama, as well as in Tokyo’s Odaiba, in Shanghai and Fukuoka.
Elsewhere in the announcement, Bandai Namco Group has announced plans of entering into the metaverse and is slated to debut these projects in Japan and around the world in the near future. Watch above for the announcements made at the conference.
