Mike Tyson vows to make lifestyle change to become 'nasty' for Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson is intending to take his fight with Jake Paul seriously.

The heavyweight legend has posted regular training footage as he prepares to face YouTube star Paul on July 20, despite being set to step in the ring at 58 years old.

Eyebrows have been raised over the health of the former undisputed world champion, who regularly smokes cannabis, and was seen using a walking stick just a matter of months ago.

And in a plan to make sure he is in peak physical condition, Tyson has suggested he is planning to stop using cannabis.

He was asked why he smokes during an interview, to which he replied: “I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with my tripolar tendencies or something.

“But I don’t think I am going to smoke for this fight. I think I am going to be very irritable and nasty.”

Tyson was then questioned about if he would take his trademark ear-bite edible sweets, and he added: “Normally I do, but for this particular fight I think I’m going to go pretty raw and naked.”

Tyson has a cannabis empire in the USA, which reportedly generates revenue of around $500,000 per month, including from his 40-acre ranch in California.

The boxing icon also launched cannabis edibles alongside bitter rival Evander Holyfield, shaped in homage to the famous ear-bite incident from their rematch.

In his last exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, Tyson admitted to smoking cannabis in the build-up to the surprise of many.

But he is hoping to prepare sufficiently for his upcoming clash against YouTube personality Paul, who will be 31-years his junior.

The pair have attracted widespread criticism for accepting the fight, given Tyson has received health warnings from concerned medical officials.

But he has been posting footage from his training camp with cornerman Rafael Cordeiro in a bid to prove his fitness.

He has also snapped back at critics, insisting they are ‘jealous’ of the event, for which he is expected to pocket a tidy $20million purse.

Tyson’s pro career ended in 2005 after three defeats in his last four outings, and he will be hoping to not round off his time in the sport with another damaging blow landed by Paul.
