Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs announce new album, share "Dare to Dream" featuring Graham Nash

Mike Campbell and his band The Dirty Knobs have announced their new album, Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits, out June 14th via BMG. As a preview, they’ve shared the first single, “Dare to Dream,” featuring Graham Nash.

Having now found their way as a rock band, Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits finds Campbell and The Dirty Knobs in a place where they are solely focused on creating “great songs” with “depth in the lyrics and chords,” the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers co-founder said in a statement.

A straightforward rocker with a sunny disposition, “Dare to Dream” is a song about “longing for hope,” Campbell said. “Lord knows we need more hope in this wicked world these days. Having Graham Nash sing on it was a dream come true for me.” Watch the Chris Phelps-directed music video below.

Campbell continued by explaining how Nash’s contribution to “Dare to Dream” came together, revealing he “got up the courage” to ask when Nash was a guest on his SiriusXM interview show. “”Would you be interested in singing on one of my songs?’” Campbell recalled saying. “He said, ‘Yeah, I’ll make your song better.’ And he did! It sounds like the Hollies.”

Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits marks the follow-up to External Combustion, which Campbell discussed in a chat with Kyle Meredith when the album was released in 2022.

Campbell and The Dirty Knobs have lined up a summer tour behind the album. See the full list of dates below, and grab your seats here. Nash has an upcoming summer and fall run of his own; get tickets for those dates here.
