At Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, Microsoft released an announcement trailer for a new Minecraft action strategy spin-off dubbed Minecraft Legends. While exact details have yet to be revealed, Minecraft Legends is played in a third-person perspective and promises real-time strategy elements with a campaign co-op mode against ravenous piglins and a competitive multiplayer mode.
The trailer offers a glimpse of what to expect in terms of gameplay, showing a character on horseback leading an army across different landscapes. Development for the new spin-off is led by Mojang in collaboration with Vancouver-based studio Blackbird Interactive.
“Explore a familiar yet mysterious land, full of diverse life, lush biomes, and rich resources. But this paradise is on the brink of destruction. The piglins have arrived – and they’re threatening to corrupt the Overworld. Inspire unexpected friends to form valuable alliances and lead them in strategic battles to protect their home. Take the fight to the piglins before their Nether corruption devours the Overworld!” Xbox writes in the trailer description.
Minecraft Legends is set to release in 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Steam, and Windows. Stay tuned for updates to arrive later this year.
