It was a big night for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and the cast of Everything Everywhere All At Once, winning seven out of their 11 Oscars nominations. Leading up to the big weekend, Disney+ shared a new look at Yeoh and Quan’s upcoming series project, American Born Chinese.
The new series is based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name. The “genre-hopping action comedy” follows Jin Wang, an average teenager, played by Ben Wang, whose life turns upside down upon meeting an international student who leads him to be entangled in a battle with Chinese mythological gods. The cast also includes Everything Everywhere All At Once co-star Stephanie Hsu, as well as Chin Han, Daniel Wu, Yeo Yann Yann, Jim Liu, Poppy Liu and Sydney Taylor.
In a video, Emmy-award-winning executive producer Kelvin Yu said, “We’re on Disney+ so it’s like the home of these epic folk tales from Cinderella to the Little Mermaid and the Monkey King and Chinese mythology is another one.”
