Michael Jordan’s 1991 BMW 850i, purchased new and owned by the basketball legend until 1995 has surfaced at auction via Bring A Trailer. At the time of writing, through his own driving and mileage incurred by its current owner, the vintage 8 series has just over 30,000 miles on its odometer.
Dressed in a Mauritius Blue Metallic, this particular model was known for its luxurious interior and performance capabilities during its prime — it comes equipped with a 5.0L V12 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Additionally, it features 17-inch multi-piece AC Schnitzer wheels, adding a touch of sportiness to its sleek design.
The car’s exterior boasts a range of features that nod to the 90s but also provide functionality, including pop-up headlights, fog lights and a power-operated sunroof. The AC Schnitzer body components, an addition from the previous ownership, contribute to the car’s unique look.
Inside, the cabin showcases 90s-era luxury, with power-adjustable front seats upholstered in Light Parchment leather, complemented by matching door panels and carpets. From a performance perspective, the BMW is well-equipped with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and ABS, as well as Continental ExtremeContact tires, new from 2023.
More than a car, the BMW 850i represents a piece of Michael Jordan’s legacy and a memorabilia collectible of sorts, as it comes with original documentation that bears his name in print and signature.
At the time of writing, the vehicle is still open for bids, with the highest at $25,600 USD and six days left on the auction.
