With the release of Creed III just around the corner, director and star Michael B. Jordan is already thinking beyond the third installment of the trilogy.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jordan was already sharing his excitement for the expansion of the Creed universe. While the Creed films were already an expansion of the Rocky Balboa ones in itself, Jordan explains that he intends on seeing the Creed-verse “continue to grow and expand.” He explains, “I think that we invested in some really interesting characters that I think a lot of people were responding to. I have to give a political answer to that. [laughs] There’s going to be more of the Creed family, and there’s gonna be more of some of the characters that you love from this movie. I just don’t know what package it’s going to be in yet.”
The Creed films have revamped the beloved franchise, previously starring Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa. The newest franchise has laid the groundwork for additional storylines through newly introduced characters, should Adonis Creed take a step back from the ring. Florian Munteanu is reprising his role as Viktor Drago in Creed III while the film also introduces a new rival, Jonathan Majors’ Dame, another boxing prodigy who grew up alongside Adonis before going to prison.
Creed III releases in theaters this weekend.
