Michael B. Jordan and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II To Star in Amazon Thriller ‘I Helped Destroy People’

Michael B. Jordan and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II To Star in Amazon Thriller ‘I Helped Destroy People’

Michael B. Jordan and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have signed on to co-star in Amazon’s I Helped Destroy People, a thriller based on a 2021 New York Times article of the same name written by Janet Reitman.

The article tells the story of F.B.I. agent Terry Albury, who was tasked with investigating Muslim communities in the aftermath of 9/11 as the only Black agent at his bureau. After 16 years at the job, Albury became disillusioned by the war on terror and began leaking classified documents, which eventually landed him a four-year prison sentence.

Following a competitive situation, Amazon Studios landed the rights to the project. Ben Watkins, the creator of Amazon’s Hand of God series, will be writing the script. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will produce the film for Outlier Society, alongside Abdul-Mateen II for House Eleven10.

In the meantime, Abdul-Mateen II can be seen in Michael Bay’s action movie Ambulance, which hits theaters on April 8. Jordan, meanwhile, is both directing and reprising his role as Adonis Creed in Creed III.

In other entertainment news, Wayne T. Carr has revealed Zack Snyder’s take on Green Lantern for Justice League.
