Earlier this week, the official MF Ghost anime YouTube channel released a teaser video after its final episode aired, confirming that the series is renewed for another season.
Adapted from Shuuichi Shigeno’s street racing manga, MF Ghost is set in the same world as Initial D, serving as a sequel for the hugely iconic title. Produced by Felix Film, the TV anime started airing in Japan on October 1, and was simultaneously available to stream on Crunchyroll for its international fans.
The 12th and last episode of the season ended on a cliffhanger as protagonist, Kanata Rivington starts his Toyota 86 on the Lake Ashinoko GT course. Season two of the anime will likely dive straight into the race, picking up from where the episode ends, and bestowing fans with consecutive episodes packed with high-speed street-racing action.
At the time of writing, no concrete release date for the second season of MF Ghost has been set, but it’s confirmed for release sometime in 2024. In the meantime, keep an eye out for updates on MF Ghost’s official website.
