Mercedes-Benz’s EQ division is pumping out electric cars for the masses, and now it expands its range with the all-new EQE SUV. The car comes in as Mercedes-Benz’s regularly-sized electric SUV, sitting above the EQC and the EQE sedan, but beneath the soon-coming EQS SUV and the flagship EQS saloon. In short, think of this car like your average family SUV, in the same ballpark as the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
While it was rather exciting that Mercedes-Benz has unveiled another EV to broaden its range, what’s more exciting is the reveal of Mercedes-AMG‘s effort. Here, the Affalterbach team has delivered its first all-electric SUV in the form of the EQE SUV, in turn creating a car that packs 677 HP courtesy of two electric motors, one placed on each axle.
Elsewhere, the AMG EQE SUV utilizes AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive, AMG air suspension, rear-axle steering and AMG-specific roll stabilization, and of course, AMG Sound Experience. Here, noises will be emitted inside and outside that emulate something closer to a spaceship as opposed to a car, adding to the performance-enhanced driving experience.
Likewise, dynamic design details on the exterior allude to a sportier machine. For example, the AMG black panel radiator grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome and an integrated star emblem set the car apart, as does an AMG splitter-fascia, sportier side skirts, 22″ rims, and an aerodynamically-designed diffuser.
Sporting undertones are elevated with the adaptable 4WD system, which can send torque to any part of the car depending on where it’s needed, or altered so that the driver can have more rear-leaning fun. Altogether, and assuming you have the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Boost pack ticked to take power all the way to 677 HP, the car can hit 62 MPH in 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 149 MPH, all coming alongside a range between 233 and 292 miles.
