Melt-Banana announce first album in 11 years, plus US tour dates

Melt-Banana announce first album in 11 years, plus US tour dates

Melt-Banana is back. Today, the Japanese noise rock duo has announced their ninth studio album and first full-length release in 11 years, 3+5, due on August 23rd via the band’s A-Zap Records.

According to the album’s bio, written by the BBC’s Olli Siebelt, 3+5 “showcases the duo’s visionary musical approach and extraordinary abilities as performers: Yasuko Onuki’s giddy, hyperactive vocalizing and Ichiro Agata’s glitchy, cyberpunk guitar, delivered at dizzying speed, bathed in aggressive electronic sounds… 3+5 provides a fresh experience and perhaps inspiration for all.”

3+5 will span nine new songs. No singles have arrived with the announcement, but the band did share a trailer previewing the album’s rip-roaring energy. Watch it below.

Upon arriving in August, 3+5 will be available on digital, CD, and vinyl formats. Pre-order the album and read the full bio by Siebelt here.
