Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Traumazine’ Launches in Top 5 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

Megan Thee Stallion extends her perfect top 10 streak on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Traumazine debuts at No. 3 on the list dated Aug. 27. The album, which was officially announced only one day before its Aug. 12 release, earned 63,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 18, according to Luminate.

Of the 63,000 units, a majority (54,000), come from streaming-equivalent album units. The sum equals 85.7 million official on-demand streams of the album’s songs. 8,000 units derive from traditional album sales, with the remaining amount owed to track-equivalent album units. (One unit equals the following levels of consumption: one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams for a song on the album.)

Traumazine adds a fifth top 10 to Megan Thee Stallion’s account on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Here’s an updated look, including the new arrival:

Fever, No. 6 peak, June 1, 2019
Suga, No. 6, May 16, 2020
Good News, No. 1 (for one week), Dec. 5, 2020
Something for Thee Hotties: From the Archives, No. 3, Nov. 13, 2021
Traumazine, No. 3, Aug. 27, 2022

Elsewhere, Traumazine begins at No. 2 on the Top Rap Albums chart and at No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

As Traumazine launches, four of its songs debut on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart: “Her” (No. 19), “Ungrateful,” featuring Key Glock (No. 29), “Budget,” featuring Latto (No. 31), and “NDA” (No. 46). In addition, two prior releases also return to the list: “Pressurelicious,” featuring Future, re-enters at No. 27 after having previously reached No. 14. “Plan B,” meanwhile, resurfaces at No. 35 after having peaked at No. 7 upon its debut in May.

“Her” leads the album’s songs in streams and sales, with 8.6 million official on-demand streams in the week and 2,000 downloads sold in the week ending Aug. 18. The sums yield a No. 15 start on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and a No. 8 entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales. “Budget” and “Ungrateful” also make the cut of the genre sales chart, at Nos. 21 and 25, respectively, while “Ungrateful” also opens at No. 25 on the genre streaming list.
