Maximo Park crashed through with their 2005 Warp debut A Certain Trigger, which caught the attention of the NME and earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination. Their sophomore album Our Earthly Pleasures, from 2007, peaked at No. 2 on the Official Albums Chart and is their only Top 10 album to date.
Nature leads an all-new Top 7. Cooper’s Detroit Stories could become the shock-rock legend’s highest position on the U.K. chart since 1989’s Trash peaked at No. 2. Detroit Stories is the best-selling album on CD at the halfway mark.
Meanwhile, metalcore group Architects could snag their first U.K. Top 10 album with For Those That Wish To Exist (Epitaph), new at No. 3 on the Chart Update. It’s the most downloaded LP over the past weekend.
British rapper Digga D’s second mixtape Made in the Pyrex (CGM) starts at No. 4 and is the most-streamed effort of the week so far, while homegrown singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan is hunting her first Top 5 album with Choices (Cooking Vinyl), new at No. 5.
The White Stripes’ Greatest Hits (Sony Music CG) bows at No. 6, while Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s live collection Way Down In The Rust Bucket (Reprise) opens at No. 7.
Over in the U.K. Singles Chart battle, Olivia Rodrigo sets the pace with “Drivers License” (Interscope). It’s the best-seller on the Official Singles Chart Update and is chasing an eighth-straight week at No. 1.
