Marvel Studios has announced that a Black Panther animated series is in the works. Titled Eyes of Wakanda, the new projects was teased by Marvel exec Brand Winderbaum at an event to promote the upcoming second season of What If…? .
The new project is a part of multiple series currently in production with director Ryan Coogler at the helm to expand the Wakanda storyline. In the official logline from Marvel, Eyes of Wakanda‘s plot states, “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.” Coogler has a multi-year overall TV deal with the Walt Disney Company under his Proximity Media banner.
Alongside the sizzle real that introduced Eyes of Wakanda, the video also teased two previously announced animated series, X-Men ‘97 which is expected to debut in 2024 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Currently, no-live action Wakanda projects have been ordered to series as of May. It looks like Marvel is listening to the criticism of oversaturating the market. It remains to be seen when Eyes of Wakanda will be completed.
