Martin Scorsese has officially unveiled the the trailer for his upcoming film, Killers of the Flower Moon. The movie stars a stacked cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser and more.
The storyline is based on a non-fiction novel by the same name by David Grann. The plot explores the murders Oklahoma’s native Osage nation in the 1920s following the discovery of oil deposits on their land. The events that occurred after was later known as the Reign of Terror. In the film, DiCaprio and Gladstone star as Ernest and Mollie Burkhart respectively. They are a married couple who live during the time of the murders in Oklahoma. De Niro plays Ernest’s uncle, William Hale.
Scorsese and DiCaprio have been attached to the film since 2017 however due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, the production was pushed back a couple of years. Production resumed in 2021 when Apple TV+ . The film is produced by Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions and DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions with a $200 million USD budget. The film originally premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2023 and is set to be released in select theaters on October 6. For a wider release, the film is releasing on Apple TV+ on October 20.
