It looks like a film adaptation for the titular simulation video game, The Sims is currently in the works. LuckyChap producers Margot Robbie, Josey McNamara and Tom Ackerley are set to produce the new film, from Kate Herron and Briony Redman alongside Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment.
Kate Herron has been known to helm Loki and is set to direct the film adaptation, while co-writing with Briony Redman. The two have previously worked on Doctor Who while Herron is also set to direct an episode for the second season of The Last of Us.
For many who grew up in the early 2000s, The Sims was one of the most popular computer games at the time. Noted as one of the best selling video game franchises ever, with over 200 million copies moved since it first arrived on the scene in 2000. The game from Electronic Arts allowed players to control the characters within the game by simulating their lives like raising a family, finding love and going to work. Living in a virtual world, some more sadistic players found the joy in creating outlandish scenarios.
Robbie and LuckChap found great success with Barbie and are hoping to carry on their film adaptation progress with this upcoming movie, once again tugging at audiences heartstrings. Currently, The Sims film is still in early development.
