Manchester City linked with £29m player from Chelsea

Manchester City are interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, according to reports.

The 28-year-old’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of this season, having penned a five-year deal in 2017.

The speculation about his future in London is increasing as the Blues haven’t been able to agree a new contract with the German yet.

According to a report from Eurosport, City are interested to bring the defender to Manchester.

However, the Citizens face competition for the signature of the 28-year-old.

It is said that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also keen on the Germany international. While other European heavyweights Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus have also been linked with the player.

Antonio Rudiger has been impressive for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season. He has started eight Premier League matches so far this campaign, missing only the game against Brentford.

He joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 from Roma in a deal worth around £29 million.

Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, he has clocked up 161 appearances across all competitions, with eight goals and four assists to his name (stats from Transfermarkt).

Rudiger is a highly talented player who mainly plays as a centre-back but can also be used as a full-back on either flank.

He is known for his strong physical attributes as well as aggressive playing style.

The Pensioners should do everything to extend his stay in London as he has proved himself very useful for them so far.
