After joining forces for “Qué Pena,” Maluma and J Balvin — two of Latin music’s strongest forces — have reunited for a new track, titled “Gafas Negras.” Arriving as part of Maluma’s recent record, DON JUAN, the song comes with a fresh music video, directed by César “Tés” Pimienta of Royalty Films and Juan Pablo Calda.
The visual, set in Medellin, Colombia, was filmed during the release party for Maluma’s record, which is nominated for Best Latin Pop Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. As Maluma celebrates the album with his close circle, cameras follow J Balvin as he makes a surprise appearance for the group. Ultimately, the video mirrors the song’s straightforward storyline of two friends dancing reggaeton in a club.
“We close the club for tonight, smoking and having sex/ It’s that the babies came to twerk,” Maluma sings on the chorus in Spanish. “And the ones that brought the cat, let it loose for a while.”
Notably, Maluma and J Balvin wrote the song with Edgar Barrera, Jhayco, Bifi, DJ Luian and Jonathan Rivera, while Madmusick and DJ Luian handled production.
