Madonna & Sickick’s ‘Frozen’ Heats Up in Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart’s Top 10

Madonna & Sickick’s ‘Frozen’ Heats Up in Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart’s Top 10

Madonna and Sickick surge to the top 10 of Billboard‘s multimetric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated April 16) with “Frozen” (12-10).

It’s Madonna’s third top 10, and first in nearly seven years, on the chart, which premiered in January 2013. It follows two 2015 Diplo co-productions: “Living for Love” (No. 9, that February) and “B**** I’m Madonna” (No. 5, July). It’s Sickick’s first top 10.

“Frozen,” a 2021-remixed, Sickick-produced version of Madonna’s No. 2-peaking 1998 Billboard Hot 100 hit (which she wrote with Patrick Leonard and produced with Leonard and William Orbit) from her Ray of Light album, debuted at No. 20 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs in December after going viral. Since, Madonna and Sickick have released two additional remixes, complete with new vocals and official videos, with Fireboy DML (March 3) and 070 Shake (March 31).

Helped by the latter mix, “Frozen” gained by 45% to 2.3 million official U.S. streams and 15% to 1,000 downloads sold in the April 1-7 tracking week, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data. Concurrently, the track improves on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart (8-5), tying “Living” for Madonna’s highest-charting song on the survey, which began in 2010.

‘LOVE’ LOCKED IN: Gryffin and OneRepublic‘s “You Were Loved” lifts off at No. 11 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. The collab grants Gryffin his 25th and highest-charting title and OneRepublic its fifth. Previously, Gryffin reached No. 12 three times, with “All You Need to Know,” with SLANDER and featuring Calle Lehman (April 2019); “Need Your Love,” with Seven Lions and Noah Kahan (November 2019); and “Cry,” with John Martin (August 2020). Meanwhile, the track gives OneRepublic its second-highest rank, after “Lose Somebody,” with Kygo (No. 5, July 2020).

“Loved” drew 1.7 million streams and sold 1,000 in its first week. It also starts on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales at No. 4.

‘WHERE’? IN THE TOP 10: On the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, Jax Jones jumps into the top 10 with “Where Did You Go?,” featuring MNEK (14-5). Jones’ eighth top 10 and MNEK’s second, the song is collecting core-dance airplay at leaders KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, Music Choice’s Dance/EDM Channel and SiriusXM’s BPM. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)
