JAY-Z’s upcoming Made in America festival has been canceled, according to a statement posted to Twitter from the event’s organizers on Tuesday. The annual two-day music event, held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during Labor Day Weekend, will not go forward this year, due to “severe circumstances outside of production control.”
“This decision has been difficult and has not been made lightly nor without immense deliberation,” the statement read.
The message continued to state that Made in America has a “legacy of delivering exceptional experiences for music fans and concertgoers,” and that it is committed to always delivering “a top-tier festival experience.”
Despite this year’s cancellation, Made in America will come back to the same location next year. “We look forward to returning to Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the great city of Philadelphia in 2024,” it continued.
The festival closed its message, confirming that “all ticket holders will be refunded at original point of purchase.”

SZA and Lizzo were slated to headline this year’s festival, scheduled to take place from September 2 to 3. The event was also set to host a slew of additional acts, including Miguel, Tems, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Lil Yachty and more.
While Made in America did not cite additional details regarding its cancellation, Lizzo is presently at the center of a lawsuit from three of her form tour dancers, citing allegations of sexual harassment, creation of a hostile work environment, false imprisonment and interference with prospective economic advantage. The former headliner has denied the accusations, calling them “false” and “outrageous.”
