Ahead of the 2022 season, sportswear company Macron and the Canadian Premier League have unveiled the primary kits of its eight clubs: HFX Wanderers FC, Atlético Ottawa, York United FC, Forge FC, Valour FC, FC Edmonton, Cavalry FC and Pacific FC.
Each jersey is uniquely-designed to represent the cultural distinctions of each club, outfitted with custom graphics emblematic of their respective communities. In working with Italian sportswear company Macron, the CPL is one of the few leagues with custom-designed kits league-wide. The kits are designed from high-quality eco-fabrics derived from 100% PET recycled polyester certified by the Global Recycle Standard. Starting today, fans can shop the official 2022 league kits via their respective teams’ sites. To kick off the season, take a closer look at the primary kits that will debut during the 2022 season, starting April 7.
Vancouver Island, a populous island part of the Canadian province of British Columbia, is home to idyllic beaches and a flourishing art community. The predominantly purple jersey with blue accents evokes the region’s starfish and the land’s bordering water, the great Pacific. In honor of Vancouver Island’s Red Creek Fir — the largest Douglas fir recorded in history — the jersey showcases a textural fir motif throughout the design. The Gold Champion North Star is positioned above the team’s crest, denoting the club’s 1-0 victory over Forge FC in 2021. Shop Pacific FC here.
Cavalry FC plays out of the Calgary metropolitan region of Alberta, renowned for its natural landmarks like the Elk Island National Park and Columbia Icefield. The team’s home kit — originally unveiled during an event at Spruce Meadows, Cavalry FC’s flagship venue — is outfitted in red with white and green accents that subtly nod to the city’s Rocky Mountains and visionary architecture. The club’s crest, comprised of the chevron and the Lord Strathcona’s Horse, ties in Cavalry FC’s historic regiment of the Canadian Army. Shop Cavalry FC here.
The Eddies 2022 jersey showcases the club’s royal blue thematic, inspired by the Alberta flag. Edmonton is coined “Canada’s Festival City” in response to the city’s bustling music and arts scene. FC Edmonton kit honors the province’s coat of arms, including pops of green, gold, and pink to denote the region’s natural forests, wheat fields and Edmonton’s official flower, the wild rose. Valour FC plays out of IG field in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a multicultural city known for its annual festivals like the notable Jazz Winnipeg Festival. Valour FC will showcase an all-black jersey with harvest gold accents incorporated throughout to demonstrate the team’s unyielding vigor and courage. Based in Toronto, Ontario, York United FC’s kit will debut the team’s primary colors: York Green, Lake Ontario Blue and Victory Gold.
