To commemorate the five-year anniversary of Mac Miller‘s Swimming album, the rapper’s estate has teamed up with NPR Music to present two new Mac Miller vinyls: a special edition Swimming vinyl and an NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert vinyl, which presses the rapper’s iconic Tiny Desk Concert from 2018.
The NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert vinyl features the live recording of the three songs Mac performed at Washington D.C.s’ NPR Headquarters: “Small Worlds”, “What’s the Use?” – including a Thundercat appearance on bass – and “2009.” The vinyl sees a vibrant outer design, decked out in translucent blue with B-side etching, and a silver “Love Always” note from Mac across the center.
As for the Swimming set, it comes housed in a tri-fold jacket and packaged in rainbow foiled double-walled slipcase. The set contains two vinyls, each of which are wrapped in a clear covering to showcase their designs; the album’s ethereal essence is captured in each record’s cotton-candy colorway, which combines vibrant pinks and blue with hints of clear milky tones to create a glossy marble look. Along with eight 12” x 12” lyric cards, the Swimming 5-year Anniversary vinyl also comes with a silver printed poster.
Earlier this week, Mac’s estate announced that Swimming would see a special audiovisual presentation as well, scheduled to hit LA’s Dolby Theater for a screening later today. The event is already sold out, though @92tilinfinity (the official Instagram account of Mac’s estate) confirmed that: “Due to overwhelming demand, a second screening has been added for 8 PM. New RSVP confirmation emails have been sent out for this screening.”
Both the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert vinyl and the Swimming 5-Year vinyl are available for purchase on Mac Miller’s official website alongside a slew of Swimming merch. The NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert vinyl retails for $28 USD, and the Swimming 5-Year vinyl retails for $80 USD.
