To kick off our August luxury fashion favourites, I thought I’d begin with a controversial take – is winter really all that bad for our wardrobes? Considering I spent the better part of a month traipsing around Mediterranean coastlines, I had anticipated that my return to wool coats and double-layering would be met with obvious disappointment, but surprisingly this season’s selection of new arrivals and favourites has made the change in temperature joyfully bearable. Am I a changed women? This month’s luxury fashion favourites might suggest so.
Whether you can call winter in Australia a real winter, is still open for debate, which is why this month’s selection is filled with trans-seasonal pieces that are not only perfect for layering, but are versatile enough to see you into the changing season. When the weather is as unpredictable as it has proven to be this August (25 degree days swinging into 14 and raining the next), it only makes sense that the pieces that make their way into our wardrobes are flexible too. Ralph Lauren’s latest addition to its every-growing leather goods offering, the RL 888, redefines the ‘classic bag’, with a crossbody and top handle bag that will elevate any outfit.
Elsewhere, The Row continues our unhealthy obsession with ballet flats, and cat eye sunglasses are certainly not going anywhere according to luxury French fashion House, Louis Vuitton. Stella McCartney serves up a delicious take on the trending denim maxi skirt, and Burberry entices us to add yet another stripped shirt to our collection with a perfectly oversized blue and white pinstripe that will never lose its charm.
Whether you’re in the market for a new carry-all (hello Christian Dior Toujours and Saint Laurent Le 37), or fancy a new statement necklace courtesy of New Zealand brand Meadowlark, our August luxury fashion favourites have something for everyone. Happy shopping!
