Sacai’s founder, Chitose Abe’s impact on this season’s fashion transcends across genders, at her recent Paris show at the historic Carreau du Temple.
The venue, known for hosting lectures by iconics like Helmut Lang and Rei Kawakubo, now adds Abe to its prestigious list. Abe’s collection showcased nomadic superhero parkas, Mao jackets, and oversized pants for men, along with women’s wear featuring down cocoon waistcoats and plissé silk skirts with military pockets.
Collaborating with graphic artist Marc Gonzales added an element with skateboard and lettering homages. Abe, celebrating life and unity, expressed herself through a collection having Space Age silver hues and fake military distinctions.
The runway also displayed her latest collaboration with J.M. Weston – Golf Derbies and Worker Boots, specially made for the event. The ambiance, complemented by a musical mashup, resonated with Abe’s exploration of new ideas and silhouettes, named “Uniforms.” The show marked a grand finale to the international menswear season, leaving a lasting imprint on the industry.
