After releasing seasons of one Star Wars series after another for several years — highlighted by The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and The Bad Batch – Lucasfilm and Disney have finally taken some time to regroup. In doing so, the duo has now unveiled its plan for the franchise and its beloved characters. In a brief announcement online, Lucasfilm shared that a new film is on its way to movie theaters — The Mandalorian & Grogu.
The movie, which has been teased with a piece of concept art, centers around continuing the story of The Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin stars alongside Grogu, affectionally referred to as “Baby Yoda,” as the fan-favorite duo gears up for a new adventure on the big screen after starring in three seasons of The Mandalorian. It is to be directed by Jon Favreau, who’s previous directing credits involve Elf, Iron Man and 2019’s The Lion King, with Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni all serving as producers.
Production for The Mandalorian & Grogu is said to begin this year while Lucasfilm also noted that a second season of Ahsoka is on the way and is currently being developed by Filoni.
