Louis De Guzman Announces New ‘Race Against Time’ Screenprint

Louis De Guzman Announces New 'Race Against Time' Screenprint

After announcing his new Along the Way body of work — a series based on “imagination, exploration, curiosity and the excitement that comes along with venturing into unknown territory” — in March, Louis De Guzman has announced the second release from the series: a circular screenprint dubbed Race Against Time. The second release from Along the Way after March’s Above It All painting and corresponding screenprint, Race Against Time discards the aerial themes of its predecessor in favor of a more nautical-tinged look, but one that boasts the bold color palette and signature “geometric abstraction” style that De Guzman’s work has become known for.

Two boats traverse a turbulent ocean in Race Against Time while a duo of clocks tick away above, a potential metaphor for the constant, occasionally tumultuous nature of one’s passage through the sea of life. The painting’s cool blue hues are offset with a melange of reds and purples, with black and grey backing to round everything off. 16 different colors were used in the Race Against Time screenprint, which was printed by the POP!NK Editions team, and it also features hand-deckled edges. It measures in at 20×20 inches, and is limited to a run of 30, each hand-signed and numbered by De Guzman. Besides the print, the Race Against Time artwork also appears on a 1,000-piece puzzle and a keychain.

An official release date for Race Against Time has yet to be announced, but De Guzman has indicated that subscribers to his mailing list will be granted early access in the coming weeks.
