The Los Angeles region continues to pay tribute to late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
The city has dedicated the new Hyde Park metro station in Nispey’s honor. The Los Angeles Times has reported that the metro station is located at the intersections of Crenshaw Boulevard with Slauson and 59th Street. The location was chosen to be near Hussle’s Marathon Clothing Store. At the dedication ceremony this past weekend, Los Angeles councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson reminded fans of Nipsey’s legacy,
“After he caught the vision and he understood what the train would mean to this community and his neighborhood and businesses like his, he got very involved in making sure that this train worked on behalf of our people and helped us express and live out our possibilities and our hopes and our dreams.
From Slauson and all the way to Vernon, you will see world-class pieces of art, celebrating the history and the legacy of African American people. Everybody who comes to L.A. and rides the train out of the airport is gonna see it. Is that all right?”
The station is one of eight stations added to the LA’s K Line and is a prat of the city’s $2 billion USD Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project. The lines are expected to connect with Metro E Line and C Line set to be open later this year.
In case you missed it, Meek Mill has partnered with WME to focus on the next generation of cultural leaders.
