Lizzo To Release First Single in More Than Two Years: “Rumors”

Lizzo To Release First Single in More Than Two Years: “Rumors”

Lizzo will welcome a new era with the release of her first single in over two years, titled “Rumors,” on August 13.

Landing as the follow-up to her 2019 album Cuz I Love You and her collaborative track “Blame It on Your Love” with Charli XCX, Lizzo took to Instagram to share the single’s artwork and release date, with the caption, “NEW ERA B*TCH.”

The single will land on streaming platforms ahead of Lizzo’s packed schedule of live performances, which includes stages at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on September 4, Global Citizen Live on September 25, Firefly Music Festival on September 26, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on October 10 and Outside Lands on October 30.

Cuz I Love You — Lizzo’s third studio album — received high acclaim and won the artist several Grammy awards in 2020, including Best Pop Solo Performance (“Truth Hurts”), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Jerome”) and Best Urban Contemporary Album (Cuz I Love You).

In March, Lizzo announced her first television project with Amazon Studios — an unscripted, yet-to-be-titled series that will follow the top-shelf singer “as she continues to search for dynamic, full-figured women to join her world and perform with her on stage,” according to the studio. “Only the most talented dancers and models will have what it takes to twerk it out on tour and stomp it out on the runway.” The show’s premiere date has not yet been revealed.

Elsewhere in music, Frank Ocean is slated to headline Coachella in 2023.
