Lizzo is the subject of a forthcoming documentary, set to premiere on HBO Max this fall. It’s directed by Doug Pray, executive producer of HBO’s Dr. Dre/Jimmy Iovine documentary The Defiant Ones. The as yet untitled project is awaiting a specific release date.
The Lizzo documentary will arrive in the months after her second full-length, Special, which she announced with the single “About Damn Time” in April. Lizzo premiered the title track on Saturday Night Live the same week, where she also pulled double duty hosting. Last summer, Cardi B joined Lizzo for the single “Rumors,” but Lizzo hasn’t said whether the track will appear on Special. She’ll tour North America beginning in late September, with Latto taking the opening slot.
