Liverpool make enquiry for 27-yr-old, Klopp wanted him in 2016 as well

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Poland international Piotr Zielinski.

According to Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp has made an enquiry for the Napoli midfielder and the Reds are not the only club keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.

Apparently, Manchester City have asked for information regarding the player as well.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Zielinski a few years ago but the midfielder chose to join Napoli instead.

The Reds went on to sign Gini Wijnaldum and the Dutchman proved to be a fantastic servant for the club over the years. Wijnaldum recently left the club on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Klopp will have to bring in a quality replacement for the Dutchman and it seems that he has resurrected his interest in Zielinski once again.

The Polish midfielder has been outstanding for the Italian club since joining them and there is no doubt that he could prove to be a quality addition for the Reds.

The report from Calciomercato does not mention any potential asking price for the midfielder and it remains to be seen whether the Italian outfit are prepared to sell the player this summer.

The 27-year-old has a contract with the Italian outfit until the summer of 2024 and Liverpool will have to pay a premium if they want to secure his services anytime soon.
