Little Simz Lays Bare on Powerful New Track “I Love You, I Hate You”

Little Simz Lays Bare on Powerful New Track “I Love You, I Hate You”

British rapper Little Simz has shared another single in the rollout of her forthcoming album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. On “I Love You, I Hate You,” Simz looks inward as she dissects her feelings towards her absent father.

After her producer posed the question “what do you love and what do you hate?,” Simz thought up ideas for the song, but at first refused to write it. “I knew the answer immediately, but I was adamant I didn’t want to talk about it,” she said in a press release.

The rapper’s vulnerability on the track sees Simz coalesce anger and sorrow in her confrontation of her “Daddy issues.” To a vibrant, punchy flow, she confesses, “my ego won’t fully allow me to say that I miss you.”

Resolutely, Simz finds a sense of peace through all the pain and chaos as she concludes “I’m not forgiving for you, man, I’m forgiving for me.”

“I Love You, I Hate You” is the next in a string of releases over recent months, arriving on the heels of last month’s soulful “Woman” and the cool hip-hop “Rollin Stone,” as well as the political anthem that the album takes its name, “Introvert” from.

Out from Simz own independent label AGE 101, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is currently available for preorder and drops September 3 on all streaming platforms. Take a listen below.
