1981’s Time Bandits will be returning as an Apple TV series. Originally directed by Terry Gilliam, the cult fantasy film is being adapted for television for the first time by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi.
The series follows a similar plotline to the movie: an 11-year-old boy named Kevin joins the ragtag group of Time Bandits as they traverse time and space, from seeing Stonehenge being built to dancing through the Harlem Renaissance.
Lisa Kudrow stars as Penelope, the de-facto leader of the Time Bandits, alongside Kal-El Tuck as Kevin. The cast also includes Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Charlyne Yi, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills and Imaan Hadchiti. Clement and Waititi will be making special guest appearances in the show.
The first two episodes of the 10-episode series will debut on Apple TV+ on July 24. Two new episodes will premiere every Wednesday through August 21.
