Lionel Messi says that he has been very impressed with how Cristiano Ronaldo has adapted to life at Manchester United.
The Portuguese legend returned to Manchester United after spending more than a decade at Real Madrid and Juventus where he scored goals for fun and helped himself to numerous trophies and personal accolades.
During his time at Real Madrid, Ronaldo pitted himself against Lionel Messi and the two created an individual rivalry for the ages, winning numerous titles with the Argentine winning the Ballon d’Or six times and the Portuguese taking the award home on five occasions.
While both men have left their respective clubs, they have always kept an eye out on each other’s performances. And Messi, who only recently scored his first Ligue 1 goals for Paris Saint-Germain, says that he has been impressed with how quickly Ronaldo has adapted to life in the Premier league despite experiencing a lot of difficult times at Old Trafford.
While speaking to Marca, Messi said that United have a very strong team with great players and admitted that things are not very easy in the Premier League.
“Cristiano already knew the club, but that was in another stage and now he has adapted in an impressive way. From the beginning he has scored goals as always and had no problems adapting. In the Premier League things aren’t as we all thought, but it is a very difficult and even competition in which things take a lot of turns. After December it changes a lot and anything can happen.”
He’s been my striker when I first came to Old Trafford and he’s been my coach since I came back to Man. United. But most of all, Ole is an outstanding human being. I wish him the best in whatever his life has reserved for him.
Good luck, my friend!

Despite United’s failings, Ronaldo has made a great start to life in England, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions. Recently the club parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was unable to arrest the club’s downward spiral.
Hopefully though, the Red Devils will turn the page on what has been a forgettable start to the campaign.
