Lil Yachty continues to deliver this year, seeing the widespread success of psychedelic-rock album Let’s Start Here followed by the release of standout single “Strike (Holster).” On Boat’s latest offering, a fresh yet cohesive Slide three-pack, the rapper presents two new singles – “Slide” and “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY” – alongside “Strike (Holster)”.
On the project’s first cut “Slide”, Yachty shows off his artistic versatility. He amalgamates his masterful mumble rap in the first verse with his wavy auto-tuned vocals on the hook and chorus. “Slidin’ in that Roadster (Slide), slidin’ in that ‘Cat (Slide) / Slidin’ with that nine (Slide), slidin’ with that TEC (Slide) / Slidin’ with that h*e (Phew), slidin’ with that b*tch (Slide) / Slidin’ with my dawg (Uh), slidin’ with my stick (Slide).”
“Slide” also comes with an alluring music video, which combines an aesthetically pleasing array of footage of the rapper performing in different settings, both solo and surrounded by friends. Stream the visuals for “Slide” above.
Yachty further proves his unique genre-bending capabilities on “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY.” The rapper effortlessly slides over the simple, synth-y beat, dropping lyrically witty references throughout: “I was takin’ that risk, I was takin’ that b*tch / I was flyin’ Air Drake, so I was takin’ that switch.”
The new three-pack featuring “Slide”, “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY” and “Strike (Holster)” is currently available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
