Last week, Lil Yachty served up two new tracks – “Slide” and “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY” – as part of his Slide three-pack. Yachty offers bar after bar in the catchy “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY”, and he matches this carefree yet committed-to-the-craft energy in the cut’s music video.
The video’s opening reveals the two-and-a-half minute track is actually a freestyle – the same one from Yachty’s AMP Freshman Cypher from earlier this year. “Say less. I got your blessing. I’ll drop it,” Yachty tells a streamer over the phone before the beat drops.
Boat sits in the back of a convertible Hummer, dripped out in patriotic colors; he dons a vintage Kansas City hat and is draped in an American flag as he delivers the song’s first bars with utmost chill and confidence (“Same n*gga breakin’ down h*es left and right (Yeah) / I was countin’ up an M on a private flight (Yeah).” Footage of Yachty in the back of the hummer is intermingled with entrancing shots of the rapper posted up outside a Buddhist Monastery – with the Benz.
Yachty also dropped the music video for “Slide” last week upon the Slide three-pack’s release, which also sees the inclusion of “Strike (Holster)” as the closing track. The Slide three-pack is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. Stream “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY”‘s music video above.
