Lil Tjay has shared the first update on his health since his shooting and hospitalization in June.
Taking to Instagram, the young rapper first took a moment to share his gratitude to his fans for all the messages he’s received since the incident. “I’m just checking in with y’all. I just wanna say thanks for the love, thanks for the support. I been looking at the DMs, the comments and everything else and I feel love,” he said in the video, where he can be seen wearing a neck brace. “Seven shots — it was tough, you know? Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here. Here for a reason, and new music coming soon. We’re gonna come back stronger than ever. Love y’all.”
The 21-year-old immediately went through surgery after getting shot in New Jersey in late June, and although a report stated that he “appears to be doing better,” an official update was never given. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that three men were arrested in connection with the shooting; a man named Mohamed Konate attempted to commit armed robbery against Tjay and his two friends, Antoine Boyd and Jeffrey Valdez — who were arrested for second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon — and has been charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery and a number of weapons-related charges.
