Lil Nas X Turned Down a Role on HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ Second Season

Lil Nas X Turned Down a Role on HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ Second Season

Lil Nas X’s internet-breaking music videos will likely be the only thing he acts in for some time. In a new cover story for Variety, the artist revealed that he turned down a role on the critically-acclaimed HBO series Euphoria to focus on his music career.

“I was actually going to do Euphoria, but I didn’t want to take time away from finishing my album,” Nas X told the publication. “I definitely want to get into acting, but I feel I have to give it my all, and I want to focus on music for right now. I want my first movie to be amazing.”

Starring Zendaya in its lead role, Euphoria is currently filming its second season, after being delayed due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, showrunners recently tapped another artist to join the season two cast, Dominic Fike.

Lil Nas X shared the news of his forthcoming debut studio album Montero in June via a Marvel Studios-inspired trailer, and last month, the rapper linked with Jack Harlow to drop the single “Industry Baby,” produced by Kanye West.

Today it was announced that Nas X is topping charts worldwide as the most-streamed male rapper on Spotify. The 22-year-old has had a steady stream of number one hits and viral music videos, including “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” off of the upcoming album and his country-rap breakthrough hit “Old Town Road.”

In other entertainment news, the trailer is out for A Journal for Jordan starring Michael B. Jordan.
