Lexus Unveils Performance-Driven LBX "Morizo RR"

Lexus has introduced its latest model, the LBX “Morizo RR,” a performance-driven variant of its compact car designed to deliver an elevated driving experience. The model was first showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January and features a small but capable 1.6L inline-three-cylinder turbocharged engine, developed extensively alongside racing drivers to enhance performance and agility.

Key features of the new LBX include the Response-Enhancing Damping Structure (REDS) in the front lower arms, a world-first technology that improves responsiveness and control on various road surfaces while maintaining the distinctive quietness expected of a Lexus. Notably, customers can choose between two transmission options: the Direct Shift 8AT and a Lexus-first 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). Additionally, an electronically controlled full-time AWD system ensures a secure and sporty drive.

At the exterior, the vehicle features exclusive front and rear bumpers, 19-inch forged wheels and colored moldings that accentuate its low center of gravity and wide stance. The interior boasts dedicated sports seats, aluminum pedals and sporty accents. Lexus also introduced the “Bespoke Build” program, allowing customers to customize their vehicles with a wide range of options, including colored brake calipers.

Orders for the LBX “Morizo RR” have begun in Japan, with a broader release expected in late August. As for access to the Bespoke Build program, Lexus Japan will be holding a lottery-style draw, with the application deadline set to July 31, 2024 — winners will be notified by their respective dealerships.
