Land Rover Offers First Look at Its Three-Row Defender 130

Land Rover has finally offered enthusiasts a first look at the long-awaited Defender 130. While the upcoming SUV will share the same wheelbase as its Defender 110 sibling, the body of the 130 has actually been lengthened by 14 inches to accommodate a third row of seats at the rear. This gives the car a total capacity of eight seats and virtually identical approach and breakover angles, although the extended rear means your departure angle will be slightly compromised. The rest of the 130 looks pretty much the same as the 110, sharing a majority of design cues from the latter model (at least up front).

As for powertrain options, AutoBlog reckons a V8 version would be highly unlikely. Instead, you’ll probably get to choose between a turbocharged four-cylinder variant or a turbocharged straight-six variant, followed by a plug-in hybrid version exclusive to the European market later on. Other details revolving around the Defender 130 remain scarce at the moment, so those interested should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come from Land Rover.

In other related news, here’s our take on how the Land Rover Defender became the king of customizable SUVs.
