Lana Del Rey has always been heavily influenced by Americana but on her next project, the singer will be going full country. Appearing at the Billboard and NMPA Songwriter Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, Del Rey revealed the news to the crowd.
The singer told the audience that she had been making the LP with Jack Antonoff, who was being honored at last night’s event, saying that the two of them had been working on it in Muscle Shoals, Nashville and Mississippi over the last four years.
”If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening,” she said.
Del Rey said that the record is called Lasso. Following last year’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, it’ll mark her tenth studio album.
Del Rey is up for five Grammys for that release, including Album Of The Year and Best Alternative Music Album. The LP’s tracks “Candy Necklace” and “A&W” are also up for awards.
