Lamborghini Unveils SC63 Le Mans Racer

Lamborghini has just unveiled its first hybrid endurance racing prototype, the SC63, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed — designed to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The SC63 represents Lamborghini’s commitment to electrification and hybridization, extending this pursuit to its Motorsport division. Technical features of the SC63 include a new 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, bodywork created in collaboration between Lamborghini Centro Stile and the race design team, as well as various other innovative design and technology elements, forming what Lamborghini says is “a jewel to be proud of.”

Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s Chairman and CEO, describes the SC63 as the “most advanced racing car ever produced by Lamborghini.” He emphasizes that competing in major endurance races with a hybrid prototype aligns with the automaker’s vision for high-performance mobility and the future of motorsports for the Squadra Corse.

The SC63 is set to compete in the Hypercar class of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the aforementioned 24 Hours of Le Mans and will additionally race in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup. Leading the car at international competitions in partnership with Lamborghini will be the Italian racing team Iron Lynx.

As part of the reveal, Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini’s Head of Motorsport, highlighted that the launch of the SC63 coincides with the 60th anniversary of the brand and the 10th anniversary of the Squadra Corse division. He expressed that “Over the last decade, we have achieved great results,” adding that “Now we are ready for what is our biggest step into the future of motorsport, measuring ourselves against the best manufacturers in the world.”
