LaKeith Stanfield and Omar Sy To Star in Jeymes Sameul’s ‘Book of Clarence’

Following his popular Netflix western The Harder They Fall, Jeymes Samuel is hard at work on his follow-up film, The Book of Clarence. According to Deadline, the forthcoming project is slated to star Atlanta‘s LaKeith Stanfield and Lupin‘s Omar Sy.

Samuel will direct, produce and compose the movie based on a script that he wrote. At this time, plot details are largely unavailable, though it is known that it will take place in 29 AD, with Stanfield depicting Clarence. Notably, the project will arrive under the Legendary Pictures banner.

James Lassiter, Shawn Carter and Tendo Nagenda are also set to produce, marking the second time the trio will join forces for a Samuel film, after their joint effort on The Harder They Fall.

Samuel first announced the project in May, revealing that the film would take place in the bible era. Speaking to Deadline, he said, “You remember those biblical epics, whether they were about the Bible or just taking place around it, from The Ten Commandments to The Greatest Story Ever ToldSamson and Delilah and Ben-Hur, which runs alongside all that stuff in the Bible? As will be The Book of Clarence, a full fun-filled extravaganza. It’s written and ready to go, and set in 29 AD.”

The Book of Clarence does not yet have an official premiere date. Stay tuned for more information on the project.

In more entertainment news, Matt Reeves is reportedly exploring the “Batman universe” and developing villain spin-off films.
