La Squadra and Zagato have launched the AGTZ Twin Tail, a limited edition car that pushes the boundaries of transformative automotive design via removable rear bodywork.
At its core, the AGTZ Twin Tail celebrates the legacy of the A220, a vehicle known for its bold attempts in motorsport and aesthetic appeal despite not clinching the top spot at the 24 Hours Le Mans. While this modern iteration pays homage to its ancestor, it also reinvigorates its spirit in a form that signifies a leap into the future.
What sets the AGTZ Twin Tail apart is its removable rear bodywork, offering owners the unique ability to alternate between the elegance of a longtail and the utility of a shorttail. This feature showcases the car’s dual identity and also serves as a piece of automotive sculpture, transforming at the owner’s wish.
The collaboration between La Squadra and Zagato has resulted in just 19 examples of this dynamic design. This exclusivity is matched by the car’s aesthetic options, including liveries that pay tribute to the A220’s racing heritage, adorned with the colors of the French “tricolore” and period-correct iconography — however, the makers did note that each example is a blank canvas and that they wish for every buyer to “craft a truly special car with us, composing a unique piece they will cherish for decades.”
At the time of writing, roughly half of the inventory has been reported to be claimed, with retail pricing for a build starting at just over $700,000 USD. As for the remaining stock, La Squadra and Zagato have put together a dedicated site for the AGTZ Twin Tail, where inquiries can be placed.
