The Paso del Norte Health Foundation (PNHF) has awarded 15 grants totaling more than $2.4 million for healthy living and healthy eating, including its largest grant, $562,215, to La Semilla Food Center of Anthony, New Mexico.

The grant to La Semilla is for its Cultivating Health through Foodways Education in School and Community Spaces project “to conduct and evaluate training and technical support to 600 teachers and community educators in school and community gardening, nutrition and cooking education in Doña Ana County, NM, and El Paso,” according to a PNHF news release.

La Semilla is a nonprofit established in 2010 “to foster a healthy, self-reliant, fair and sustainable food system in the Paso del Norte region of southern New Mexico and El Paso.”
